August 2020 – The Company of Biologists awarded Transformative Journal Status by Plan S

We are delighted to be the first not-for-profit publisher to commit to the Transformative Journal approach, and the first publisher to be awarded Transformative Journal status by Plan S. “I hope other journals follow the lead set by The Company of Biologists,” says Robert Kiley, Head of Open Research at Wellcome. July 2020 – Price freeze for The Company of Biologists’ journals in 2021

In recognition of the unprecedented and ongoing challenges facing the library and research communities worldwide, there will be no increase in e-journal prices or article processing charges (APCs) for The Company of Biologists’ subscription journals in 2021. See price freeze announcement.

July 2020 – The Company of Biologists featured in first OA2020-ESAC Community of Practice call

June 2020 – Read & Publish Open Access agreement signed with IReL

Researchers at nine institutions in Ireland can now publish an unlimited number of Open Access research articles free of charge in The Company of Biologists’ subscription journals following a three-year Read & Publish agreement with IReL, the Irish e-resource licensing consortium. March 2020 – Silverchair selected to host The Company of Biologists’ journals

February 2020 – Read & Publish Open Access agreement signed with MALMAD

Researchers at seven institutions in Israel can now publish an unlimited number of Open Access research articles free of charge in The Company of Biologists’ subscription journals following a three-year Read & Publish agreement with MALMAD, the consortium of leading universities in Israel. January 2020 – Launch of the Node Network
