Policy intention
The Company of Biologists aims to provide a website where all are welcome. We are committed to delivering educational informative content, ensuring accessibility and usability for all. We will continually strive to create a consciously inclusive culture.
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure that this website is accessible to all, unfortunately some areas of the website, provided by third parties, are outside our control.
Policy dimensions
The website has been designed to take the following into account:
- Navigation structure is consistent and easy to follow.
- Text size, colour and layout can be changed by using your browser settings.
- The website is written in plain English and in a style that is consistent and easy to understand.
Platform provider’s Accessibility Statement
Silverchair is committed to the creation of software that meets modern accessibility expectations, by applying best practices to target level AA conformance to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) standards of the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI). Silverchair tests client websites for accessibility compliance using industry standard WCAG 2.1 validation software.
Using our website
Magnification
CTRL + can be used to magnify the text. The text will reflow to fit the page. In-built browser zoom function can also be used (- 100% +).
For data protection purposes we only provide generic contact details. Should you need to contact us regarding accessibility, we will aim to respond within 14 days of receiving a request.
Text and background colours
In-built browser functions can be used to adjust both text and background colours. Different browsers include these options under different menus – they can usually be found under Tools, Settings, Options, Content or Reading View depending on the browser.
Browser plugins (e.g. Theme Font & Size Changer for FireFox) or third party tools (e.g. ATbar) can also be helpful.
PDF downloads
To view or download content in PDF format you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which may be downloaded from the Adobe website.
Browser support
Our website has been cross-platform and cross-browser tested. It is optimised for modern browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Google Chrome. Older browsers may offer limited functionality.
Mobile device support
Our website is responsive, it re-organises itself depending on the screen size and orientation of the device being used to view it. We test the experience on various devices including most popular IOS, Android and MS Windows phones and tablets.
