Record-breaking return for the BSCB-BSDB Joint Spring Meeting

We were delighted to attend the first in-person BSCB-BSDB Joint Spring Meeting since the start of the pandemic. In a triumphant return, the conference recorded its highest ever number of attendees, with around 500 delegates making the trip to the University of Warwick in the first week of April. There was also a bumper crop of posters, and the organisers reported that they had received a total of 290 submissions.

When Professors Barbara Niemeyer and Nicolas Demaurex agreed to organise the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) conference on Calcium and Cell Function, little did they know how adaptive they would need to be. As the coronavirus pandemic rumbled on, it became increasingly clear that they would need to make some tough decisions about how their meeting was to go ahead.

Extending the reach of zebrafish models

The 9th Zebrafish Disease Models Meeting in Singapore was held with the aims of promoting zebrafish as a model system for the analysis of human disease mechanisms amongst the scientific community in Asia, bringing together those already engaged in zebrafish research, and exchanging ideas, methodologies and new findings.
