Institutions from five more countries join The Company of Biologists’ Read & Publish initiative
We are delighted to welcome the first institutions from Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA to our Read & Publish Open Access initiative.
Researchers at the institutions below can now publish an uncapped number of Open Access research articles without charge in Development, Journal of Cell Science and Journal of Experimental Biology. Unlimited access to the journals and their archives is also available.
- Australia: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)
- Canada: University of Northern British Columbia
- Germany: German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE)
- Netherlands: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
- USA: Montana State University
CSIRO’s Chief Information and Data Officer, Brendan Dalton, says CSIRO is looking forward to working with The Company of Biologists on the Read & Publish agreement.
We’re committed to enabling Open Access to our research outputs. This is in line with our strategic direction to enter into transformative agreements with relevant scientific publishers enabling us to share our research effectively and equitably.
Rachelle M. McLain, Collection Development Librarian at Montana State University, says:
MSU Library’s Read & Publish agreement with The Company of Biologists will further advance open access research and scholarship at MSU. This is important because it means the work of MSU-affiliated authors who are publishing in their journals will be available to a larger audience because it is not behind the barrier of an online paywall.
Richard Grove, Commercial Manager at The Company of Biologists, says:
As a not-for-profit publisher with a mission to support biologists and inspire biology, it is great that researchers at 47 institutions in eight countries can now publish Open Access research articles in our leading subscription journals at no cost to them. We look forward to announcing agreements with additional libraries and library consortia shortly.
