Neither I nor my collaborators had funds available to pay for Open Access, even though we very much wanted to make our work as widely available as possible. I was extremely excited when the Development editorial office told me that my University participates in the Read & Publish program. I had no idea! This is an exceptional route to Open Access – especially in these days when the use of extramural funds for publications are being limited.
